Challenge:
On behalf of PVG Gillet GmbH & Co. KG, we were faced with the task of taking on the specialist electrical engineering planning for the Volkswagen Training Institute, a project that was divided into two components: an office and social building and a workshop area. The challenges were varied and complex: a detailed definition of requirements for the future rental areas, the coordination of interdisciplinary interfaces and demanding lightning protection planning due to the high media density on the roof areas.
Solution:
Our response to these challenges was a comprehensive approach. We developed a specific solution for lightning protection that utilised High Voltage Insulation (HVI) due to the small separation distances. We achieved a high degree of precision through concrete inlay work in semi-precast concrete elements, while maintaining the quality standard of exposed concrete. The utilisation of modern CAD interfaces and the use of digital twin / BIM technologies enabled us to effectively avoid collisions in the media planning. Furthermore, we realised a customised lighting design that did justice to the adverse environmental conditions, implemented a charging infrastructure for the teaching environment and carried out bus-supported building automation as well as the expansion of the building connection to medium-voltage level. Rooms with explosion protection zones and ATEX requirements also had to be taken into account. We supported the entire approval process for the expansion of the grid connection capacity.
Conclusion:
The Volkswagen Educational Institute project was an outstanding achievement in the specialist planning of electrical engineering, in which we mastered complex technical challenges and implemented innovative solutions. Thanks to our holistic approach and close collaboration with all parties involved, we were not only able to fulfil the technical requirements, but also make a valuable contribution to training in the automotive sector.
